Il parlamento libanese approva l’estensione della legge 288

The Lebanese Parliament has approved on Wednesday, 17 April 2019 the extension of Law 288 for a period of 3 years. Law 288 allows the Lebanese Government to issue licenses to private sector entities to produce electricity based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Ministry of Finance. The licenses by the Government are followed by Power Purchase Agreements (PPA's) to be signed between the Government and the private sector. Three wind farms with a total capacity of 200 MW were signed in 2018 based on law 288. Current bids and all upcoming new bids in solar photovoltaic, wind energy, and solar with storage, will be using the procedure set by Law 288.
