Sixth joint committee meeting at CoP24

Katowice, December 7, 2018 – On the sidelines of the 24^th Conference of the Parties of the UFCCC, the sixth meeting of the Joint Committee was held between the MATTM, represented by the Director Giovanni Brunelli, and the Ministry of the Environment of Botswana, (MENT), represented by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Thabang Botshoma.

During the meeting the progress of the projects "Supporting Botswana's early warning system" was analysed, on the strengthening of the weather forecasting and warning system and "Mitigation and Adaptation Actions in the Civil Sector: a Demonstrative Experience in the MENT Buildings" on energy requalification of the buildings that house the MENT offices. The two projects will be implemented with the technical-scientific support of ENEA.

The Committee also decided to entrust a new project to UNIDO-ITPO, to continue promoting investments and technology transfer in the renewable energy sector in Botswana, also due to the project positive results, which was launched in 2016. The Committee also took note of the 5 proposals projects presented by UNIDO, which will be evaluated over the next few weeks.
